Speech
Good morning to the audiences present today. How are you? are you all healthy I hope so.
Today, I will open the eyes and minds of all of you about how important this thing I am going to convey is. This is something that happens a lot in our society but there is no action has been taken. To be honest, I am very sad about this I'm sure you all feel the same way as me. So, the important thing I that I will talk about today is “save our society from sexual harassment”.
Before I start, I want to ask all of you. Do you know what exactly is meant by “sexual harassment”? I'm sure everyone has heard this word but do you really know what sexual harassment is? Maybe 90% of you all know and maybe 10% of you don’t know much about this. But it's okay because today I'm going to make sure each of you understands more about the sexual harassment that is happening and start acting to keep the family safe.
In this world, there are two kinds of things that must be taken care of. The first is sexual harassment and the second is sexual assault.
Sexual harassment can take many forms, ranging from unwanted touching, gesturing, and inappropriate remarks to someone promising you a good thing in exchange for sexual favors. Sexual harassment does not have to be "sexual" all of the time. It might also appear or feel like taunting, intimidation, or harmful stereotype-based statements. For example, a man mocking a woman’s body at work. Another example is making a rape joke to women. Everyone must be aware that a rape joke is not a joke. Forever not. Sexual harassment is unwelcome sexual behavior that’s offensive, humiliating or intimidating. It can be written, verbal or physical, and can happen in person or online. Anybody can experience sexual harassment, regardless of their gender. When it happens at work, school or university, sexual harassment may amount to a form of discrimination.
Besides, sexual assault is when your body is physically invaded. It can lead to physical discomfort or injury, as well as psychological and emotional distress. Rape, as well as other acts that violate or damage your body, are included in the definition of sexual assault. Every sexual assault that occurs starts from sexual harassment and that is why we need to avoid it from the beginning.
Dear honorable audience,
Sexual harassment is a much broader term than sexual assault, and refers to a wider variety of innapropriate sexual behaviors. Sexual harassment can include sexual contact - like unwanted touching, hugging, or kissing.
But as we have discussed above, sexual harassment doesn’t have to include sexual touching or contact. It can also include sexual comments, inappropriate jokes, or showing offensive material to you or others.
Sexual assault is when you are forced, coerced or tricked into doing some sort of sexual activity, including touching, kissing, sexual acts, or penetrative sex.
Some cases of sexual harassment can also constitute sexual assault. For example, if your boss or colleague forced you to kiss them, or touched you inappropriately without your consent, that could be a case of both sexual harassment and sexual assault.
If you’re being sexually harassed, you might feel stressed, anxious or depressed, withdraw from social situations, lose confidence and self-esteem, have physical symptoms of stress, such as headaches, backaches or sleep problems, as well as be less productive and unable to concentrate.
But ladies and gentlemen, no one deserves, or asks, to be sexually harassed. Everyone has the right to work and live in an environment that’s free from harassment, bullying, discrimination and violence.
If you have been sexually harassed, here are some things you can do.
First, talk to the offender. You can try resolving the situation yourself by explaining to the person who is harassing you that their behavior is unwanted. However, this is only recommended if it’s something you feel safe and comfortable doing. Second, tell someone. Sexual harassment isn’t something you need to deal with on your own. In the workplace, it might be worth talking to a HR person, who will be able to help you decide what to do. You might also want to talk to a trusted friend or family member about what's going on. Third, be informed. If you’re being harassed at work, school or university, find out what their policies and procedures are for preventing and handling sexual harassment. They may have processes in place already to deal with these situations and support you. Forth, keep a diary which is Document everything that happens, including when it occurred, the names of any people who saw what happened, and what you've done to try to stop it. It can be really useful to bring these records when talking to a manager or HR person so that they know exactly what has been happening, and when. Next, save any evidence such as Keep text messages, social media comments, notes and emails. This evidence can also help if you make a complaint. And last but not least, get external information and advice If you are experiencing sexual harassment in the workplace, you can check law stuff to find the union representing your industry. They can give you advice on your options and your rights. Someone can also act on your behalf if you don't feel comfortable pursuing the issue alone. They should respect your confidentiality. If you’re concerned about this, ask them what their official privacy policy is.
Ladies and gentlemen,
Every problem that occurs there is definitely a way to avoid it and I will help you to know the actions that should be taken to prevent becoming a victim of sexual harassment whether you are female or male. Everyone must aware about this. The first is that you have to walk in groups with friends or family when you go outside. Walking alone will endanger yourself and the perpetrator will throw opportunities against you. The next is to try to scream out loud if someone tries to touch you on purpose. And the third is to always carry any spray that can hurt the perpetrator’s eyes. To your knowledge, perfume can also help you to beat the perpetrator from continuing to make sexual harassment against you.
These measures will to some extent help our society to prevent any disruption involving one’s dignity from being scratched especially for women. We don’t know about the attitude of someone we have known for a long time or are new to, so we must do our best to find a way to keep ourselves and our families safe. I hope we are all always safe and able to live our days in peace. If something like this happens to someone we know, don’t be afraid to lodge a police report because our country has laws. The law will uphold the truth and the perpetrator should be punished. I want our society to live safely and I hope it will come true. That’s all from me, thank you.

CLASSES REFLECTIONS
16/10/2021
Today is the first day of co-curriculum in semester A211. Overall, I feel happy that I have succeeded so far this semester in the co-curriculum that I am involved in, which is public speaking. The appointment activities carried out today went smoothly although there were a few problems faced among us as students. However, I am satisfied with the decision in the appointment today. For me, the friends who have been appointed in the appointment are trustworthy and I hope they can do a good job for this semester. When the appointment activity was over, Madam Noor Aida explained to us a little bit about the assignments we had to do throughout the semester. Each assignment given must have marks and we are obliged to complete it before the due date. Madam Noor Aida explained to in very detail and easy to understand. Among the tasks we have to do is make a speech based on the given topic, give reflection throughout the class, and so on.
After Madam Noor Aida had finished explaining everything about the assignments, Madam Noor Aida also asked us to make a summary based on the video that needs to be watched from You Tube. Out of five videos, each student has to select one video to watch and at the same time provide a summary of the video. Then, I chose to watch video one which is about "What is Communication, meaning, definition by authors, elements and types of communication". Overall, I was very happy with every activity in the class today. I hope I can complete all assignments on time. In fact, I will also do my best to be more active in class this semester.

Today's class went smoothly and was a lot of fun. Today, before Madam Noor Aida started teaching a new topic, madam asked us a question about a videos that we watched in class last week. Therefore, five representatives voiced their opinions and arguments on the conclusions they found from the videos. The opinions they give are very detailed, accurate, and easily understood by other colleagues.
After the five representatives finished giving their opinions, Madam Noor Aida started the study with a new title which is about “Event Protocols, Greetings, and Title”. At first, I felt that this title was a simple learning, but once I have learned, there are actually some things that should not be taken lightly. Among the things that opened my eyes today is when communicating with someone or speaking in public, eye contact needs to be done to attract the attention of the listener so that they stay focused on what we are saying. In addition, we also need to understand the actual dress code while attending an event especially when we attend the event as a speaker. Many more things I learned today and I really enjoy with it. Overall, the learning I learned today really helped me even more so in the future one day.
30/10/2021
Today is the third meeting for this class. Every time a co-curricular meeting, there is definitely a new topic I learn in class. Today I learned about audience analysis. Audience analysis based on place, time, size, age, gender, educational background and religious beliefs. This audience analysis is very important so that the speaker will know who the audience is listening to the speech. Today also Madam Noor Aida gave an assignment to the students in our class to make an analysis of the audience and think about the title of the speech according to our owns creativity. After that, we are assigned to create a speech outline first and then make a full speech based on the chosen topic.
The title I chose was about sexual harassment that is increasingly happening at the moment. My full title is "Save Our Society from Sexual Harassment". I like this title because I want to enlighten people to always be on the lookout for being a victim of sexual harassment. In the speech also I have stated about the steps that can be taken to prevent sexual harassment from occurring. Overall, I enjoyed the class today as I gained new knowledge where I had to do audience analysis before I gave any speech so that the audience did not get bored with my speech.

Without realizing it today was our fourth week together in the Public Speaking Group E class with Madam Noor Aida. There are already many interesting activities and tasks that my classmates and I have successfully completed. But today’s classes seem to be more challenging where the assignments given somewhat test our minds. For anyone not from our class will definitely be surprised to hear the assignment. Oh, I was just kidding. Today, our lecturer has explained very clearly about the group and individual projects that need to be made by all of us. No excuse of course.
We were instructed to make a video presentation about public speaking etiquette. The content that needs to be in the video is methods of correct voice projection, controlling and overcoming fears, rules and regulations, appropriateness of language, and taboo and obstacles. Madam Noor Aida asked us to discuss in our respective groups and distribute tasks and parts to each person in the group. Madam Noor Aida asked us to discuss in our respective groups and distribute tasks and parts to each person in the group so that this task can be carried out perfectly. Me and my group members discussed this very quickly and efficiently because we all have the same opinion and my group members are made up of creative friends. We discussed only from WhatsApp application but our group leader Kai Sheng has uploaded a google document for us to select our own parts. Next, we were also instructed to create an infographic and this assignment was also in groups. Other than group work, we also need to create an individual assignments where each student has to give a reflection after the group work is done. Therefore, every student (including me) needs to give a good cooperation in the group especially in the discussion and always communicate well with the group members. Even if there is a conflict that occurs, members in the group should play a role in resolving it.
I hope I and all my team members can execute this group project well and smoothly. A grade for this semester will definitely be achieved if we work hard. We believe we can!
13/11/2021
Week by week, today is the fifth meeting for us. The activities and lessons we learn today are bound to always be fun and exciting. Today, we held a photo session where all students will open the camera under the direction of our beloved lecturer, Madam Noor Aida. As I looked at the faces of my classmates, I could imagine how much fun I would have if I could meet them physically at university. To be honest, I can't wait to meet them at university next semester!
After finished the photo session, then Madam Noor Aida started the teaching session today. The topic we learned today was about “arranging information and ideas to form a speech”. This topic is very important in public speaking courses which every speaker needs to know about the chronological, topical, spatial, comparative, problem solution, and casual as well. A speaker who does not compose a speech or idea properly; can be said that he or she is an unskilled speaker. This is because the audience needs to understand everything the speaker is saying. So, as a speaker, should be wise in arranging the order of sentences or ideas in the speech so that the audience can easily understand. Then, madam has given us an assignment to make a speech based on the things we learned in class. This is because madam wants to train us to be wise in composing sentences and ideas in speech.
After that, madam also gave us advice and a few tips on how to overcome nervousness when having to speak in public. Considering that I had a bad experience when I entered a public speaking competition, so I can feel that the advice given by madam is very useful for me in the future. Madam Noor Aida is the best!
20/11/2021
Today, the UUM co -curriculum Center held a parenting-themed program. This program has a lot of impact and deep awareness to all students who participate in this program. Although the program was implemented online, but we were able to get a variety of performances such as short dramas, songs, poems, and more. Of course, every performance presented is necessarily give a moral to students.
As long as I participated in this program, I really felt very grateful because I still had time to see parents' face until today. However, I have to repay their services because they are the ones who have raised me to this day. If parents never complain of being tired of raising children, then the children should also not give up quickly to achieve success so that one day they can repay the services and sacrifices of parents. I feel very happy throughout participating in this program. I hope I will be able to join a meaningful program like this another day.
27/11/2021
Today is the last day of our meeting for the A211 session. How time flies. However, Madam still spent time with us and gave us guidance for us to complete the assignments for this semester which should be submitted before or on 2nd December. Today, we have to record ourselves while speaking our speeches which we have prepared. The video recording must not exceed 15 minutes and we need to record our whole body from head to knee so that madam can assess our tidiness.
Before the class ended, each group member presented their respective posters to the madam so that there were any corrections that could be made. Overall, each poster shown was interesting, informative, and creative. I am very proud of my team members and other team members for working so hard. The poster is about the "do’s and don’ts" while giving a speech. To better understand, it is actually about the rules that should be followed while giving a speech.
When all the groups were done, Madam Noor Aida started giving words of encouragement to us before finishing the class. Indeed I felt sad to have to part temporarily with my classmates. However, I can’t wait to see them again next semester. Maybe next semester, we will meet physically and we will be able to do a variety of exciting activities on campus. I am also very grateful to Madam Noor Aida for being patient with us and always giving us guidance. I am so grateful and lucky to be able to be one of Madam Noor Aida’s students. Same goes to my team members. I don’t know how I would have completed my assignment without their help. Thank you so much Madam and my friends! See you when I see you!
GROUP'S REFLECTION
Throughout me and my team members implementing the group task for this semester, we have poured out a variety of thoughtful and acceptable ideas. Since it’s been two semesters we’ve been together, so the way we communicate and interact is really good because we already know each other. In fact, as we discuss a given task, we will share opinions and all group members give their respective cooperation and ideas. I also always respond to my group members and try to ask questions if there is something I don’t understand. My team members will also always answer those questions so I don’t miss out. During the nearly two weeks we completed this group project, of course there was a lot of information we needed to look for so that this project could be produced completely and contain detailed information. However, we managed to share ideas and information together even though the time to complete it was short.
Each member in this group never neglected their respective responsibilities. During the discussion session, all group members will definitely give their respective arguments in order to diversify the ideas that can be used. In fact, no one is just be a “silent reader” while everyone is chatting via WhatsApp to do some discussions. If there is a problem, we will try our best to find a way to solve the problem. No matter what. With this, we have to admit that actually a good discussion will result a good work. The proof we have seen after we successfully completed this project together. If there is a conflict going on, one will give in and accept the opinion of the other because the opinion of the other may be better to use. But frankly speaking, as long as we were together, there was very little conflict happened between us because we always talked peacefully.
Now, I will evaluate all members of my group. I will start with our group member; Chuah Kai Sheng. Kai Sheng is a group leader who is very responsible, creative and effective in making things work. Kai Sheng never reprimands other people’s mistakes by using harsh words because he is also a very professional leader. Kai Sheng handled our group very well. He also always reminded us of the tasks we had to perform. Not only that, but, every piece of work done by Kai Sheng never disappoints and we are all always satisfied with his work. He likes to help group members as well as give very thoughtful ideas. Next was Wang Jing Lin. Jing Lin was a very helpful member of our group. She often gave a lot of ideas during the discussion sessions and most of the ideas she gave were definitely accepted by us. This proves that Jing Lin is a creative person in giving ideas. Jing Lin also helped the other members of the group a lot. If I asked a question, Jing Lin would definitely answer the question I asked. She's very kind and always share information with us. The third group member is Cecelia Phoo Wing Xin. Cecelia is also a group member who is very fond of helping other group members. In fact, if any of us gave an opinion, she never said that the opinion given by someone else was wrong. But on the other hand, Cecelia would give another opinion and try to convince us that her opinion was good. Yes, I admit that the opinions given by Cecelia are all good. I love the way Cecelia does her tasks because her tasks is so neat. Cecelia also cooperates a lot in the group.
Besides, the fourth member in our group is Foong Carmen. There is no denying that in fact Carmen is an expert in video editing. Yes, of course, our group video is definitely edited by Carmen. Not only creative in editing, but she is also creative in giving ideas, composing sentences in speech, and also clever in handling a piece of work. A lot of group work was assisted by Carmen. She is always gives respond during discussion sessions and Carmen is not shy to ask questions. So, this proves that she is a diligent person in making something work. The last one is Lee Zi Qing. I really like Zi Qing because she cooperates a lot in the group. She was a cheerful group member and always answered questions asked by other group members. If there are group members who are in trouble to complete a work, then Zi Qing will be willing to help without expecting anything in return.
Overall, every member of our group cooperated very well. None of us often make trouble. Indeed, we are confident that working in a group will help the group to achieve high marks in this course. Working in groups or individually, we will still help each other.
